There is an added scene were Lydia is developing the pictures she took of Adam and Barbra. Then after her mother yells at her and blames her for cutting holes in her sheets Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her dad the pictures are real. A never-made sequel to Beetlejuice moved the setting from New England to Hawaii, and had Betelgeuse wreaking havoc on the island by turning into a creature named Juicifer. Burton ultimately lost interest in the movie, and went on to direct Batman instead.

The waiting room scene at the end of the film with Beetlejuice and the Witch Doctor was added after test audiences loved the titular character so much that they wanted more. In a sleepy little town in New England, we meet Barbara ( Geena Davis) and Adam ( Alec Baldwin) Maitland, a couple who have chosen to take a vacation by staying at home. However, the realtor who sold them the house, Jane ( Annie McEnroe), tries to entice them to sell the house, since it seems too big for just a couple. The Maitlands reject her pleas and head to town. On the way home they swerve to avoid a dog, which sends them into a river where they drown.
1. Beetlejuice Returns
At the dinner party, Barbara and Adam possess Charles, Delia and their guests (" Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)"). However, instead of being scared, the investors see the ghosts as a selling point; making them more interested in Charles' project. Feeling desperate, Lydia resorts to summoning Beetlejuice. Now visible to the living and able to affect the world around him, he forces the Maitlands to the attic before throwing Charles, Delia and the investors out of the house, much to Lydia's joy. The film begins with a young couple, Barbara and Adam Maitland, who both live a quiet life in a small country town in Connecticut. During an early morning errand, a freak car accident occurs where the happy couple ends up dead. They soon realize this unfortunate news and have to start learning how to cope with living as ghosts for the next 125 years as a posh New York family moves into their home and starts to redecorate and throw all of their belongings out. This new family includes a young daughter (Winona Ryder), who is strange and unusual, who can actually see the deceased couple and converse with them. Originally, Lionel Newman was hired to conduct Danny Elfman’s score. During the first day of recording, however, Newman kept making changes to what Elfman had written, and as a result was replaced with William Ross.
