About this deal
The Makita DHP458 cordless combi drill / driver is an extremely compact tool with an overall length of 225mm the shortest in its class with high power and productivity achieved with new DC motor (FD31-30). The DHP458 has enhanced dust and drip-proof performance to ensure reliable operation. DHP458Z vs DHP456Z I'm slowly looking for replacement and would like to go brushless as my other makita tools are, however there's nothing really new from Makita range , only the DHP481z which is like 3years old and is their top of the line drill currently.
The DHP484 has slightly better RPM, this will help give it better performance in general drilling and if using as a screwdriver. However, 100 RPM difference between the two will not be that noticeable with most tasks. The Makita DHP484 has better blows per minute, this helps give it better performance when in hammer mode drilling into masonry. The DHP484 has a brushless motor, brushless motors are designed to deliver power more efficiently, this helping the battery to last longer. Brushless motors last longer than brushed motors, giving the tool a longer life.

My gearbox for dhp458 is slowly going/acting up and I know the drill won't really last for long, but that's ok as I have used&abused that drill and used it as mixer almost every other day and it has given me a good service for 4years.
